Why Producing Our Own Oils Makes a Difference in Our Formulations
Did you know we produce most of the oils that go into our formulations ourselves?
We already have strong formulations for our products, but using high-quality oils allows them to perform as intended. Producing our own oils gives us control over quality, supports our community, and lets us handle waste responsibly—sending it to an insect farm to be converted into protein for feed.
Because we manage production ourselves, we can ensure that every step—from extraction to filtration—is controlled, consistent, and maintains the intended properties of the oils.

1. Small Batch ProductionAll our oils and essential oils are produced in small batches. This allows close monitoring of every stage, ensuring consistent quality across each batch. Large-scale production often sacrifices this level of control. |
2. Cold Pressing Seed OilsSeeds such as almonds, castor, pumpkin, flax and countless more are cold pressed using our oil press machine. Cold pressing is a mechanical process that extracts the oil without heat, helping maintain its composition and key properties. |

3. Infusing Flower and Plant OilsOils derived from flowers and other botanicals are infused over 72 hours. This method ensures the compounds from the plant are fully transferred into the carrier oil while keeping the process controlled and consistent. |
4. Steam Distilling Essential OilsHerbs like thyme, rosemary and lemongrass are steam distilled in small batches. Steam distillation allows us to extract the essential oil while maintaining its chemical composition, which could be altered or lost in large-scale or chemically processed methods. |

5. Mechanical FiltrationAfter extraction, we use mechanical filtration—letting the oil settle naturally so solids separate without chemicals. This reduces yield slightly but preserves the composition and properties of the oil, which chemical filtration can compromise. |
6. Observed DifferencesThe results of these methods are measurable. For example, our almond oil shows clear differences in color, texture, and clarity compared to many commercially available oils. These observations reflect the controlled production and handling applied at each stage. |
